Lands I Once Ruled

Lands I Once Ruled

Flipping through realities makes me dizzy
Views of planes flash before my eyes
Thrown into danger and lives not mine

Turmoil ensues around the one, not I
But I experience the pain, the joy
Emotions surge through my veins
I feel elated by the joy, the pain

Whole cities bend around me
Though not I, this one is pivotal
Rotating others in ways
I cannot explain why
Enjoyment is fronted
By love and death

But right as the story reaches a climax,
I feel the world ripped away from me
Pulsing waves of disturbance around
I feel my head throbbing and pulling
Me out, this world I’ve grown to love
Yanked from one plane and dumped
In another, back into mine,
A plane of unrealistic horrors
And unparalleled bores

I long to return
To lands I once ruled.

I have been writing poetry for the last 13 years. It all started as an assignment for a creative writing course. I never thought I would like writing, as I am dyslexic and language was always a struggle for me, but I fell in love with the art form in that class.
