Watching Seconds

Watching Seconds

Staring at the clock, watching seconds tick
Waiting all the while, feeling myself decay
Like words written on paper, that turns brown
Only to fade away, tatter, and disintegrate
Feeling the wind on my neck, in my hair
Telling me that it is time to move on
Time to pick up, pack up and set sail
Staring at the clock watching seconds tick
Waiting all the while, knowing I avoid
A life that awaits me beyond, it's not long
Before I shall find myself out of time
My clock unwound, my mind unsound
And nowhere to go, for I locked all the doors.

I have been writing poetry for the last 13 years. It all started as an assignment for a creative writing course. I never thought I would like writing, as I am dyslexic and language was always a struggle for me, but I fell in love with the art form in that class.
