Pancakes for Some Reason

Pancakes for Some Reason

the hollow behind my eyes
numbed to war by pain of years
stacking, pancakes flipping
over and over.

the well beating below
crust of earth barriers
that sky, it sparkles with stars
and I am buried beneath.

the wind carries her voices
a melody that licks my ear
words that lie from voices
that occupy my mind.

the sky across us burns
our shared reality is torn
I cry as I watch the shore
as we drift farther apart.

I have been writing poetry for the last 13 years. It all started as an assignment for a creative writing course. I never thought I would like writing, as I am dyslexic and language was always a struggle for me, but I fell in love with the art form in that class.
